Everyone is different. Some love the hustle and bustle of a touristic market.. That’s part of the excitement of these transactions it can go either way. Perhaps in the favour of the seller who gets to make a big profit, or the buyer coming away with a steal. There are others not so equipped to navigate the fabulous frenzy. The Angkor Night Market is one of the greatest experiences in Siem Reap, with it’s bright colors, vibrant, cocky sellers and untold treasures..

Night Market in Siem Reap is very lively, which creates distinct characters of Cambodia. In particular, the products sold in this market have been characterized by this country’s temples. The market is usually open from 4 pm to 24 pm; items like bandanna, silverware, earthenware, jewelry, … are attractive to travelers.

Firstly, we cannot miss out silver products. In Cambodia, the products made from silver are widely used in religious ceremonies since the 11th century. However, currently, there are more and more the shop sells silver products in Siem Reap as a highlight of the province’s market. Silver products are not merely jewelry, but also symbolizes the culture and beliefs of this country. Even the spoon is also designed  carefully.

The products are made from silver are sold at Siem Reap is quite diverse: silver jewelry (bracelets, necklaces, …), ornaments, furniture, … You can choose your own favorite pieces of jewelry with pretty cheap price. Besides the silver products are items made of bronze, stone or wood. The figure was sculpted out of copper, in stone and wood are the icons such as Buddha, Apsara, … In addition, visitors will see a lot of exquisite handicrafts items. They only cost few dollars and sold by local people.Moreover, clothes and scarf probably are the most attracting items for female travelers. Clothes are mainly imported from Thailand with very cheap prices. However, dresses are brocade mainly with symbolic motifs of the Buddhist country. The scarfs are produced by Cambodian. This is a traditional Cambodian scarf, called Krama. Khmer in the South are often use and call it bandanna. Bandanna has only 2 colors black – white or brown – white. Krama scarf Khmer is commonly used to wrap around the neck in order to avoid cold winds or possibly wipe the sweat.

Bandanna sold in night markets have more colors for visitor to chose. This is the most popular items here so prices are reasonable, normally only cost about USD 2 / unit, higher class only cost 5 USD / pcs. For those who love backpacking, and when I came to Cambodia, it is difficult not to buy a bandanna which has a lot of fancy colors. Siem Reap Night Market is a worthy visit for enthusiasts who want to learn the culture of Cambodia.
