Starting in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang, visit ancient stupas, reverent temples, Royal Palaces and mysterious shrines, visit the inexplicable Plain of Jars…. Immerse yourself in history, culture and stunning scenery. All things are the kaleidoscope.
DAY 01: WELCOME TO LAOS AND LUANG PRABANG (-)
At the first thought, after transferring you from the airport to your hotel in order to check in, we will have the short break to introduce about our adventure in Luang Prabang. Afterward, we visit Wat Visunalat, Wat Aham and perhaps stroll through Phousi Mountain for a panoramic sunset view of the metropolis, which was tucked away in a little valley. We will finish the day with enjoying the colorful of Night Market in Luang Prabang.
DAY 02: LUANG PRABANG AND THE PAK OU CAVES (B)
Under the rising sun, we will enjoy a breakfast and then, we will see the metropolis’s oldest temples of Wat Sene and Wat Xieng Thong, both of which represent the classical temple architecture of Laos. Then we will drift away from the Mekong River to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, which are known with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. On the way, we will have a stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where you can enjoy the native citizens distilling rice into wine.Finally, we will take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, well known for its hand-made traditional Saa paper. Immersing myself in activities, we spend a time for perfect dinner with humorous locals and overnight.End of the second day.
DAY 03: LUANG PRABANG AND KUANG SI WATERFALLS (B/L)
Next morning, we will wake early and participate in the daily morning ritual of Alms-giving, one of the most popular festivals in Laos. Then, we set aside time to enjoy breakfast.The first of our adventure, we will stroll through the Phousi Market where you enjoy many local goods such as local tea and salt among the chickens, vegetables, dried buffalo skin and hill-tribe weavings.In the afternoon, we will visit the Kuang Si waterfall where you can visit the Bear Rescue Center, it called FreeTheBears. On the way. we make some stops to explore local villages. At the waterfalls, you can swim in the cool water or stroll along the forest paths. We will return to Luang Prabang by late afternoon.Note: Trekking Tour at Kuang Si waterfall is approximately 3 hours, easy to medium.
DAY 04: LUANG PRABANG – THE PLAIN OF JARS – PHONSAVANH – XIENG KHOUANG PLATEAU (B/L/D)The fourth day of amazing adventure, we will transfer to Xiengkhouang, explore the mysterious “Plain of Jars.” This high-altitude region exhibits a rich diversity and stands in contrast.The plateau itself is scarred by the legacy of American bombing from 1964 to 1973. Along the way, we will have a short break at hill-tribe villages, mostly from the Hmong minority. Come to Phonsavanh, we’ll visit the Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological mystery. You’ll enjoy nightlife in Phonsavanh.
DAY 05: XIENGKHOUANG – PHONSAVANH – VIENTIANE (B)We’ll start early to prepare for a short flight to the ruins of the old capital of the Phuan kingdom. Here, we will enjoy a Lao noodle soup breakfast and visit a reverent Buddha statue at Wat Piawat and an old stone stupa. On the way back to Phonsavanh we will discover more and more of the Plain of Jars, either “Site 2” or “Site 3”.We think that depending on our flight schedule, an alternative activity may be to research the local markets before transfer. About 25 minutes flight will bring us to the capital of Laos, Vientiane.After checking into your hotel, we can spend a time for relaxing and leisure or we will continue our sightseeing tour of Vientiane with a short visit to the Patuxay, a monument of national pride on Lanexang Avenue if you feel strong. It’s also well worth taking a stroll through along the Mekong River in the evening, where a local market entertains foreigners and locals alike. Overnight in Vientiane.
DAY 06: VIENTIANE (B) Welcome to the last day of our adventure, we will have a little bit of regret.Vientiane is the capital city of Laos, we will start by visiting the major sights including the oldest monastery, Wat Sisaket, with its thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the royal temple, Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Afterward, we will visit the iconic That Luang Stupa. On the way, we have a short break to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument,Vientiane’s own ‘Arc de Triomphe.’We will continue our adventure on foot if it’s not too hot in the late afternoon. We have a sightseeing Wat Ong Tue, Wat Inpeng and Wat Haisok. Next, we will pass by the major shopping area continuing to the Vientiane Central Market of Talat Sao and Talat Kouadin, where goods are traded, including household, fresh food, textiles…. You may even see ancient souvenirs.Finally, we will return to the Luang Prabang in the late evening.
